And creative breakthroughs also arise from being imperfect, loose and experimental. This workshop takes place on the Plymouth foreshore around Royal William Yard. If you are visually inspired by patterns, textures, colours - barnacles, rust, wild flowers, reflections and the motion of the sea, this may be one for you! This workshop will appeal to architectural, urban, street and landscape photographers. If you enjoy the buzz of the footpath, the glow of light on old stone and the evening mood of 'place based' photography, this one is probably for you. Capturing the city at dusk presents different technical challenges to photographers. In this workshop you will learn how to balance different types of light (both 'ambient' and 'natural') and frame for impact while using manual controls. The advantages, in terms of 'atmospheric potential' of 'golden hour' and 'blue hour' photography will be outlined. In particular, the range granted by 'ISO', and adjusting your shutter speed in response to the 'scene', will be explained and encouraged. There will much to see and photograph as we move through this picturesque foreshore location. Come along and enjoy a memorable evening of photography in one of Plymouth's most iconic places.

I really enjoyed the afternoon. I have virtually no experience in UK street photography and it was a great introduction. It?s always good to look at things from a different perspective. Andy gave some good tips and was incredibly committed in giving me helpful critiques of the images I sent him. I just wish that Exeter was nearer !

It was brilliant. Mostly because, and I think I speak for the whole group, none of us would have left our sofas if we hadn't already signed up. The weather was appalling. However, I think we all had some great results and it showed us not to be afraid of 'bad' weather!

We went on a family birthday holiday to Combe Martin in North Devon last weekend. It was a very cold evening but looked promising so I decided to brave the icy wind and went off with camera and tripod to capture a sunset. The sunset was amazing but when I turned and looked behind me the scene took my breath away with so much colour and detail from the golden light. Fuji XS-10 with Viltrox Pro 27mm and 6 stop ND. Myself and group members thought the coastal waves crashing around a storm-damaged Teignmouth Pier was the perfect location to do our long exposure photographs. I thought that the entrance leading from the beach to the top of the coastal wall was a great vantage point to capture this shot, and I was keen to use the coastal structure to help me decide on the best angle to use for my photograph.
